Hand Mirror by Rhoda Draws
A little while ago, we added something new to the shelves at the Discovery Center: Painter X3 Training from Infinite Skills. On sale for 50% off, I encourage you to check it out.
Launching the course was a big step for us and I would like to take the opportunity to tell you a little bit about the philosophy behind the Discovery Center and it’s learning offerings.
Since the Discovery Center launched its alpha site more than two years ago, we have been committed to creating a space which helps people create amazing and useful projects using Corel software. We saw a gap: lots of useful information was available in help menus and online tutorials, but there wasn’t enough material that approached the problem from a user perspective.
We wanted to focus on the needs of beginner and amateur users of Corel products. People who want to make something so that they can share it with for family and friends, not necessarily for the love of graphic design. These people didn’t want to know all about scripting in PaintShop Pro. They want to know about things like: How do I make a slide show? How I do change my eye color? How do I design a poster?
These are the questions that we wanted to answer.
And so that’s what we’ve done, building a library of tutorials that educate users on the basic aspects of using our programs and answer common, specific questions. We put together a photography course because great digital media projects begin with great photographs. It’s all free; we see it as a way of showing off the extraordinary power of our software.
However, there are trade-offs in our content. Shorter videos might be easier to watch, but longer videos can cover more material. Simpler tutorials help beginners, but can bore more advanced users. By focusing on short and easy-to-watch videos, we were not developing content that would take users all the way to the expert level.
That’s why we launched out one-on-one training offerings. But that was only the first step.
Today, we are pleased to announce our partnership with Infinite Skills. They’ve worked with Rhoda Draws to put together a fantastic, 6-hour course that starts with the basics and moves right along to the advanced content. Best of all, they produced it in such a way that it perfectly matches our teaching philosophy! Each video in the course shows you how to create something specific – like a watercolor painting or a postcard graphic. Along the way, you will learn all of the tools and techniques you need to advance make your own digital art. As a novice Painter user myself, I can tell you that the lessons are clear, engaging, and get you creating art immediately!
So check out the links to the videos above, and if you like it head over to the Discovery Center Store to easily purchase the complete course.
This new and efficient course will be available for a limited time, so take advantage of this 50% discount! This special offer ends March 24.
