Tell the Whole Story
While it might be tempting to only focus on photographing people doing something out of the ordinary, if you want to truly represent a location, explore and consider all areas of life there, and take as many different kinds of pictures as possible. The same thing goes for events, try to capture as many different facets of it as possible.
