Corel RAW Photo Editor & Photo Management Tool Compatible with New OS X 10.11

The AfterShot family and the Corel Photo team are pleased to celebrate the recent release Apple’s operating system, OS X 10.11, El Capitan.

We’re really excited about the latest OS on the Mac and all the big changes it’s bringing. If you’ve already upgraded to El Capitan, we suggest updating to our most recently released version, AfterShot/AfterShot Pro 2.2.2, available for download now from the Updates page on

So what’s got us all hyped up about El Capitan? Well, here are just a couple of reasons…

More Processing Power
The Metal API in El Capitan (new to OS X, but originally released for use with iOS last year), will greatly improve graphics performance on the Mac. Apple has said that Metal offers groundbreaking graphics technology, accelerates Core Animation and Core Graphics to boost system-level rendering by up to 50 percent, and efficiency by up to 40 percent, resulting in faster graphics performance.” The new OS X framework also “takes full advantage of your CPU and GPU, delivering up to 10 times faster draw call performance for a richer, more fluid experience in games and pro apps.”

Definitely something to get excited about!

New App Extensions
With Aperture now gone, Apple has decided to extend the core functionality of its new Photos app by allowing users to download and access app extensions from the program for the first time with El Capitan. This is an exciting move for us since it allows for third-party tools to be downloaded from the Mac App Store and used directly within Photos, so you can apply filters, or use tools that, otherwise, would only available within other standalone products. Our team is already exploring ways we can leverage this new ability for our users in the Mac community!
