New ParticleShop Brings Advanced Painter Brushes to PaintShop Pro

New ParticleShop Brings Advanced Painter Brushes to PaintShop Pro

Say ‘Hello’ to Corel ParticleShop for PaintShop Pro!

As many PaintShoppers know, this is a big time of year for Corel’s Photo Group, since it’s our traditional “launch season.”

This August, we have even more news with some major announcements coming from our Painter team. Corel Painter is well known as the world’s leading digital painting software, capable of simply incredible works of art—things you traditionally could only dream of creating with physical media, like pencils, chalk, watercolors and oils, in the real world.

But earlier this week, our Painter team made digital art more accessible than ever with the introduction of ParticleShop, a new brush plugin that’s compatible with PaintShop Pro, Photoshop and a variety of other popular photo editing software.

For PaintShop Pro artists or photo editors who want to creatively embellish photo projects and designs, this is huge news—ParticleShop has the potential to dramatically extend your digital art toolkit with amazing, photo-realistic effects. Whether you want to add hair, fabric, fire, smoke, fur, dust or lighting to your photos, ParticleShop brushes can create these life-like looks with a simple brushstroke.

Of course, PaintShop Pro (and for that matter, Photoshop) includes a wide variety of art media brushes along with painting and drawing tools that you can use to make some amazing art. But together, PaintShop Pro and ParticleShop can take your art to the next level, taking advantage of the amazing power of Painter’s renowned Particle Brush technology.

KelbyOne‘s Corey Barker weighed-in on the plugin and brushes in the ParticleShop news release, saying:

“When I first saw ParticleShop in action, I was blown away by the effects that could be created in a matter of minutes,” Corey Barker, Education and Curriculum Developer, KelbyOne. “The atmospheric enhancements that can be added to photos are unlike anything I’ve seen before. Without ParticleShop, a designer on a tight deadline or budget might not even attempt to bring these effects to life, but now it’s virtually effortless. ParticleShop will change the way users realize their creative vision.”

Pretty awesome stuff! On top of the new plugin, there’s also a new version of Painter out this week, debuting at the same time as ParticleShop and showcased at Photoshop World in Las Vegas. You can check out both over on the Painter homepage (see the Painter 2016 news release here).

Let us know what you think in the comments below—we’re keen to hear feedback from our PaintShop Pro users who check out the new ParticleShop. And stay tuned for more big news coming soon!

Hi Ramesh, great question! If you’re using Painter 2017, you already have everything you’ll need to start taking advantage of our various ParticleShop brush packs as they are compatible with both Painter 2017 and the ParticleShop plug-in. Custom-created particle brushes are Painter-only. Hope this helps!

Are all Painter and Particleshop brush packs compatible with Paintshop Pro? I don’t have Painter, but have Paintshop Pro, which I use constantly.

          Hello Lance,

Good question! Currently, only ParticleShop brushes can be used with PaintShop Pro via the ParticleShop plugin.

I don’t understand why Corel wants us to pay extra for the brush packs when they charge me every year for new updates. There are some free/cheap alternatives on the market like Flame Painter with Photoshop plugin already included in the price. I just don’t get it!

Hi Mark, thanks for your comment. ParticleShop comes pre-packaged with several brushes so you can explore the different types based on the powerful particle brush technology found in Corel Painter 2015 & up. Once you’ve found what you like, additional packs are available depending on your needs, with even more amazing brushes for flames, fur smoke, etc. Hope this helps!
