The Other Side

The image was created using a combination of techniques fist starting with the woodcut effect on the crow, then I just played with pattern brushes, chalks and liquid ink ( I LOVE liquid ink) The background is made of layered pencil sketches.
I strive for a balance between illustration and fine art to convey meaning both through the “story” but also it is important to me, as I have a background in visual arts, to allow the paint, shapes and elements to create their own story of aliveness. The theme is deeply rooted in my love of nature and my desire to give voice to the “others” of the natural world. I wish my art to inspire and create a connection with the images through imagination and sensation. My images are complex and to not lend themselves to a fast read, this is intentional, the hope is to inspire curiosity and discovery.
