We Survived

My daughter, here seen age 2, and I were photographed by Michelle Parsley. The portrait reference, used with permission by Michelle means a great deal to me. Little did we know when we would return home from a trip that we’d experience a freak sewage flood that would destroy our home, and most all of our belongings. Xia watched as we tossed all of her toys and soft goods into dumpsters and go from hotel to hotel living out of suitcases for almost a year. The entire time, she supported my husband and I saying “good job, guys! You’re so strong!” This little joy has taught us about grace, pivoting in the moment, and being grateful for the things that matter in life.

Painted with mostly custom brushes in Corel Painter 2020 and a Wacom Intuos Pro medium tablet and Art pen. Please note there were no organic mediums used in the background textures. This is entirely Corel.
