Improvised Tripods
If you don’t have a tripod with you, but you really want to take a shot with a big zoom or long exposure, improvise! Put your camera on a ten-second timer, and all of a sudden every flat surface will do. Use a book to prop your camera up to the right angle, then press the button and let your camera stabilize before the photo is taken.
