Light Trails

ElginLightTrails

For a cool effect, try shooting long exposures of highways at night to capture light trails from the headlights and tail lights of cars. You won’t be able to accurately rely on your meter, so try different shutter speeds slower than 1 second. Try to use a low ISO to reduce noise and allow for long exposures. A small aperture will allow for longer exposures and will give a larger depth of field but experiment with different f-Stops as well. You will need a tripod, and preferably the self timer, to reduce camera shake.
