Sunset Tip: Use a long lens
When you are taking a photo of a sunset, use a long lens.
This one might seem a bit counter-intuitive, because we think of sunsets as wide landscape shots. But take a look at your favorite sunsets, and notice how big the sun looks. Then look at a sunset photographed with a standard 50mm lens – it’s pretty small! In the most spectacular images, the sun features prominently, and that means it needs to be bigger!
A 200mm or even 400mm will allow you to capture that shining golden orb as it hangs over the horizon in all its glory. Just don’t forget a tripod!
