Have an Assistant

In many cases, your footage will be significantly improved if you are able to gather two perspectives simultaneously, and cut between them. For an interview, it’s great to have both a wide shot and a close-up – if one person is talking you can go in close, but if they are bantering back and forth, the wide shot will keep things from getting confusing. Similarly if you’re filming an event, it’s great to have one camera filming the action and another gathering reaction.
