Adding Value to Illustrations

In the final video of our five-part illustration series, Painter Master Don Seegmiller turns up the value in this concept art piece. With just an air brush and eraser, watch as Don adds contrast and depth to the piece. Adding contrast at the end like this can also work wonders on an image you felt looked flat to begin with. We finish up with a quick shortcut on masking to clean up overpainted edges, and a duplication trick to quickly deepen the contrast even more, as an experiment or as a final step to get the piece where it should be.
