Creating Characters in Painter 2018

Magdalena Proszowska, a Senior Concept Artist at Ubisoft Studio, provides tips for creating captivating characters while painting Poldnica. In this 30-minute tutorial, Magda explains how she works in Painter using oil brushes. Beginning with setting up her canvas and a quick tour of the brush library, Magda sketches several images to create a background story of her character. The next stage is to use the mixer to create a color palette for her painting, then adding in the background colors and basic shapes to her sketch.

As Magda continues to refine her painting, she provides many tips on using the various brushes in the Painter library, and how she uses reference photos to guide her development of faces, costumes, backgrounds and body positions of her character.
