I need to DELETE the Edit History text of for images (within Image Information) before sending the pics to clients. I am not working at high volumes now, so going into the image information for each photo is doable. Currently, when I select the text in Edit History, I am not allowed to delete it. How can I remove this text? Thanks.

BTW, I have now unchecked the box for saving Edit History in the information for each photo. However, I have many photos that already have the Edit History text. Thanks.

      Hi Phil,
I don’t know of a way that you can delete the edit history out of the image information after the image has been saved previously including the edit history. What you can do, now that you have unchecked the box for saving Edit History, is to use the Batch Process feature to save a copy of all the photos without the edit history.
      Hope this helps!

I’m having a real problem trying to use Batch Process to resize my photos. It seems to be working , but my photos remain unchanged I don’t find any detailed instructions in either the Help Files or User Guide or on YouTube tutorials. Can you point me in the right direction?

      Hi Annette,
Here is a tutorial on batch processing that may be helpful to you Although it was recorded a few years ago, the process is still the same in more recent versions of PaintShop Pro. The part specific to resizing is around the 2:25 time stamp in the video.
Also, what are you using for Output Settings and have you double-checked the settings for Destination Folder, Filename, and Naming Conflicts? My own personal preference is to use a new folder (“Resized Images”) as the destination folder and select the option Append “Copy” to new file name in the Naming Conflicts section.
Let us know if you are still having problems.

    August 27, 2021 at 12:45 am
    • Adam Reply

      Hello Peter,

One way to do this would be to select the eye you want to edit, copy it to a new layer, and apply any hue, contrast, or other edits to the new layer. You can then merge layers again if desired, but we would recommend leaving it as multiple layers for easier tweaking later on.

I am trying to find how to enter tags. The guide says go to Navigation palette but I cant find it.

    July 4, 2021 at 11:39 am
    • gilliandarby Reply

      Hi Dese,
There are a couple ways to access the Navigation palette from either the Essentials workspace or Complete workspace.
      1. Under the Palettes menu, select Organizer. This will bring up the Organizer tray along the bottom of the interface. Click on the Show/Hide Navigation icon (it looks like 2 yellow file folders) that is in the top left of the Organizer. This will bring up the Navigation palette, and the tagging function can be found under Collections.
      2. Alternatively, you can add the Manage tab to the Essentials or Complete workspace. Under the File menu, select Preferences > General Program Preferences. In the Preferences window, click on Tabs in the list on the left. Under Visible Tabs, enable the Manage tab then click OK. This will add a Manage tab at the top of your interface (right beside the Edit tab). The Navigation palette is on this tab.
      Hope this helps!

As a new user, I am stuck on extremely basic things. I wanted to do a line tracing on a layer over a photo. No color, I just want a b&w line drawing to make an enlargement for reference. This will be hand drawn on a tablet. When I start drawing lines, they appear to enclose areas of pure white overlaying the photo image. Why do these have white instead of just the black lines drawn? And lastly, I have tried to read about this topic but was unable to find any Help file describing this. Where is this information available?

      Hello s4r72,

Are you using the Shape tool? This sounds like a shape with a black border with a white fill applied. You can set this to transparent by checking the box next to the black-and-white checkered colour option – this ‘finish line flag’ icon represents transparency, or the total lack of colour. As for where to read about this in more detail, here is our online help on creating preset shapes!

    Thanks for any help

    August 22, 2020 at 2:08 am
    • Adam Reply

      Hello Fishdo,

This is a tricky one! It sounds like the image in question is an exported, single-layer file, meaning the text is encoded as pixels in the image without any additional information. This means you would need to use a selection tool to add each letter to the selection. The Magic Wand tool is often a good starting point in a situation like this since, in addition mode, it will add all pixels that are within the defined tolerance of the pixel you click. Provided the letters are fairly consistent in terms of colour and tone, this means a quick click on each letter will give you a good starting point, which you can then either clean up with a different selection brush, switching between addition and subtraction mode as needed, or by copying the selection to a new image or layer for cleanup with an eraser tool. This will get the text selected and moved to a new image or layer for further use in PaintShop Pro.

As for copying to a text file, PSP does not currently have any Optical Character Recognition (OCR) tools – these are commonly found in PDF readers such as Adobe Acrobat, and are not something we have had many requests for. That said, we have passed your comment on to the PSP team for their consideration! In the meantime, you would have to type the text in by hand.

      Hope this helps!

I’m having a hard time try to remove the sky from one picture to another. My picture was too bright so you can’t see the sky and clouds very well. I tried making the pic darker, but but her face is too dark. I liked the cloud that was in the organizer pictures so I tried to use that picture. I have seen layer videos and some are going to fast and or not telling you each thing to click on. For instance, someone said save picture to clip board or something, but he didn’t show the steps to do it. I’m a beginner and I need step by step instructions and not so fast.
The one example I tried following said use the Smart selection bush. Every thing was going find until copy and paste to new layer. My cloud was on the client face and I don’t know how to fade (not sure what it is called) the cloud & sky picture so I can see her face. All I want was a better looking sky. Everything else in the picture I want to keep.

From here, scroll down to the Open Default Apps button to open a list of file types. I went from PSP XII to Corel PS 2019. I am so lost. I don’t understand why I cannot open multiple photos onto one workspace. I used to do digital scrapbooking and have near to 20 elements opened on my workspace to drag onto my 12×12 background.

My other problem is using the selection tool on an object from my background, promoting it to a layer and saving it as it’s own image. I promoted it and I see it in layers. I used to be able to drag the promoted layer on to the workspace and Save As. If I drag it to the side it disappears. I had scanned multiple photos. What I wanted to do what cut them apart and save individually as I was able to do in pspXII

Help me, please. What is the new way to accomplish what I need to do? Thank you in advance.

It depends on which image formats you use, and what kind of camera you have! AfterShot Pro offers a variety of RAW image processing features, lens corrections, and other tools that PaintShop Pro does not have. If you do not work with RAW image files, then PaintShop Pro’s suite of image manipulation tools is likely to be all you need.

How do I set the size of the pictures that I want to print?

      January 5, 2021 at 6:29 pm
      • Adam Reply

        Hello Lila,

There are a few ways to approach this! The first thing to do is check what dpi your printer is capable of, and the resolution of your image. For example, a common colour image print resolution is 300 dpi print, meaning an image that is 1200 x 900 pixels would print at 4″ x 3″. However, modern cameras often produce images much larger than this! For example, an 8 megapixel camera has a resolution of 3,266 by 2,450, which would print out closer to 12″ wide at that setting! This is why cropping and resizing images to fit is particularly important. Once you know what size you want to print in and how many pixels that is to a side, you can look at your image’s resolution and see what needs to happen. Again, with modern cameras this usually means cropping or resizing your image to scale it down to something that can fit in a printer.

This sounds complicated, but we can keep it simple. With your image open in PaintShop Pro, step one is to select the Crop tool, set it to the aspect ratio you want (for example, we were talking about 4:3 earlier), and crop the section of the image you want to keep. Step two, select Image > Resize, check to make sure the dpi is correct, lock the aspect ratio to avoid any unnecessary math, set the size as you prefer, and click OK. You’re done! All that’s left is saving and printing.

        Hope this helps,

      Hello John,

Thanks for asking! In most regions, PaintShop Pro is offered as a download from our website, and physical copies can be found in retail locations. We also offer download insurance to make sure you are able to access a fresh installer should you need to reinstall PaintShop Pro for any reason, even if you do not have a physical disc.

I’m trying to create a visual guide to show the sizes of product in mm. I draw the circle, and try to set the radii – but I’m not sure what unit that the tool is in. I’d like to be able to set them in mm, or tell the program to draw a circle of a set mm diameter. Is this possible?

The shape of my pointer for clone and eraser has changed. Unsure how to change it back. Previously was a square or circle (depending on the shape selected) with a small icon representing the task (clone, eraser etc.) above the square or circle. Somehow I have changed it to “cross-hairs” (like the cross-hairs of a target gun scope) and unable to change it back. Thoughts anyone?

      Hello M Van,

It sounds like you have enabled the Precise Cursors option! This replaces all tool-specific cursors with a crosshair, as some users find this easier to use when fine detail is needed. Here is how to toggle that setting:

      1. Navigate to File > Preferences > General Program Preferences

      2. Select “Display and Caching” from the left menu

      3. Untick the box labelled “Use Precise Cursors”

      4. Click OK. You should be all set!

Question: I really struggle getting scripts, tubes, brushes purchases etc. to appear in the right place.
Over the years I have purchased several upgrades, my question is: when you purchase either a script, tubes, brushes, frames etc. does it only install/work in the version you were using at the time of purchase.
Example: I have lots of tubes in Version 2019 but very few in 2020 same with frames etc.
My hard drive is sub divided into two I have a C drive and a Z drive When I purchase any of the above which drive should I install it on to C: or D:

Why, when I open PSP2020, does it turn white spaces on the screen yellow? Not going back to white unless rebooted.

Webroot, after scanning my computer for problems, indicates that there is a memory leak in CorelDRAW X8. It is very slow to respond to simple commands (copy, color text or objects, convert to JPEG or to PDF, and especially when I try to save. It may take an hour for the program to save a file (I’ve timed it). Then it becomes un-responsive. I have to use task manager to stop the program, and lose everything because in the unresponsive mode it does not auto-save.

I use W10 with all the upgrades. I have 16 mb of RAM
