How to create a split screen template
- In the Timeline, click the Split Screen Template Creator button. In the Montage/Template Editor, choose a tool from the Shape Tools palette, and drag in the editor window to split the area into different clip zones. A number appears in each clip zone.
- To adjust the lines and shapes, in the Shape Tools palette, choose the Select tool. You can drag the lines and shapes to reposition them and resize them. You can also adjust the Rotation, and Border (Width, Color, Opacity), and apply Effect options (Swivel and Tilt).
- To add motion to your template, you can add keyframes for each object to the timeline at the bottom of the template window. Select a line or shape in the preview window and the keyframe window will appear along the bottom. Add a keyframe, start with a shape to the left of the screen, add a second keyframe and you can move the shape to the right of the screen. Also experiment with the Swivel and Tilt effects. You can then choose the settings you want to apply to a keyframe, and press Enter.
- Click OK to go to the Sub Editor and add and edit the clips as you would with an existing template.
