Have purchased Studio 22 Ultimate and am finding it difficult, cumbersome, and almost impossible to perform an Animated Ken Burns type pan and zoom effect on a still image especially when holding a zoom using the following example:

    1) Still/photo image stretched out to a 45 second clip on the timeline
    2) Pan and Zoom initiated zoomed in to the center of the photo/still image and held for 5 seconds.
    3) After the zoom hold for 5 seconds, a 5 second duration pan across to the upper left of the still image with the same zoom value from the beginning of the P&Z.
    4) After the 5 second Pan across, a 5 second hold at the upper left of the image again using the same zoom value from the beginning of the P&Z
    5) After the 5 second hold at the upper left, an 8 second pan across to the upper right of the still image using the same zoom value for the beginning of the P&Z.
    6) After the 8 second pan across to the upper right of the still image, a 5 second hold using the same zoom value from the beginning of the P&Z.
    7) After the 5 second hold at the upper right, a 10 second zoom out to a full frame of the the still/photo image.
    8) After the zoom out to the full frame still/photo image, a 5 second hold before a 2 second fade to black is applied.

The pan and zoom effect can be accomplished using unconventional techniques especially when attempting to hold a stable pan and zoom at all animated positions on the still image and it consumes approximately 4 or 5 hours for the example above. Using the example above, my experience is that 3 identical key frame values must be added one frame in succession in order to achieve a stable pan and zoom at each location.

The real question here is does Studio 22 not support Zoom Hold?

      Hello Manuel,

Which version of Pinnacle Studio 22 do you have? Audio Ducking is included in the Pro and Ultimate packages, but is not included in the standard package.

I have been using Pinnacle for years and now have studio 20 and always correct the volume of the sound manually so that the sound under film is just as loud.
I now see that studio 22 has a GAIN function, you can now use it to correct the sound volume automatically. I cannot find a good description of how it works exactly.

    Hello there!
I have Pinnacle Studio 12 and make slideshows. I would like to know if any of the new P.S. 22 versions will still allow me to crop and pan the pictures? My other concern is what file formats are offered to record in HD video?

    February 15, 2019 at 5:38 pm
    • Adam Reply

      Hello Lou,

You can still crop and pan images in Pinnacle Studio 22! As for what file formats are offered, there are quite a few.

Pinnacle Studio 22 can import the following video formats:
AVCHD, DV, HDV, AVI, MPEG-1/-2/-4, Flash, 3GP (MPEG-4, H.263), WMV, Non-encrypted DVD titles (incl. DVD-VR/+VR), MOV (DV, MPEG-4, H.264), HEVC (H.265), DivX Plus MKV (you need to download DivX drivers from DivX), XAVC, MXF, DVCPRO HD, XAVC S, GoPro LRV

Pinnacle Studio 22 can export the following video formats:
Video files: DV, HDV, AVI, DivX, WMV, MPEG-1/-2/-4, Flash, 3GP, WAV, MP2, MP3, MP4, HEVC (H.265, H.264), DivX Plus MKV, JPEG, TIF, TGA, BMP, XAVC S
Disc formats: AVCHD, DVD (DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R or DVD+RW, dual layer)

      Hope this helps!

      Hello Clive,

You can access the Audio Editor by selecting the Editor panel in the top left (next to Library), and then selecting the music icon (just below the Library button). This will switch that entire panel over to Pinnacle’s audio tools.

I am wanting to put an additional clip at the very front of an already created movie. How do I do that without having to make numerous changes on the timeline?

    December 15, 2018 at 10:27 am
    • Adam Reply

      Hello Pat,

All you need to do is set the Editing mode to Insert! This can be done using the dropdown in the top right of the timeline. By default it is set to Smart Editing, meaning Pinnacle Studio will make some editing decisions based on how it sees your behaviour when you add or move clips. This can do the same thing as the Insert function if the Smart Editor thinks that is what you want, but to be safe you can switch to the Insert mode. Once there, any videos you add will shove everything to the right of them down, making room for the new clip. For a more complete explanation, check out our How to Use Different Editing Modes tutorial!

      Hope this helps,

Is er een support voor RAW files (CR2) of moeten die eerst geconverteerd worden en zo ja wat wordt in dat geval aangeraden?

    October 10, 2018 at 3:07 pm
    • Adam Reply

      Hello Bollestan,

Pinnacle Studio does not currently support the CR2 RAW format (or any raw image formats for that matter). There are many editing programs that can convert RAW files, including our own AfterShot and PaintShop programs. For reference, Pinnacle Studio 22 supports the following image formats: JPS, BMP, GIF, JPG, PCX, PSD, TGA, TIF, WMF, PNG, J2K

      Hope this helps!

          Hello Dario,

Not a problem! Installing codecs is a bit like installing fonts. When you install a codec pack on your computer, most video playback and editing software – Pinnacle included – will detect and use the new codec.

    Hi there,
I have just purchased a GoPro Fusion, how do I us the Fusion footage from the two SD cards in Pinnacle Studio 22 Ultimate?

    August 20, 2018 at 5:36 pm
    • Adam Reply

      Hello Trevor,

We would suggest using the included Fusion Studio app to transfer the video files to your PC, which will also let you stitch the files on the camera into a video file ready for editing. Once they are on your computer, just import them into Pinnacle Studio and you’re ready to go!

We love GoPro cameras (hope you’re enjoying your new Fusion!), but since we don’t make them, if you run into more trouble with the Fusion itself we’d have to point you at the GoPro Fusion Manual.
